can you make the machines see?
Machine Vision Engineer | Hyderabad, India | Full-Time | 2+ yrs exp
Who we are We build dark factories: fully autonomous, zero-defect production systems for electronics & semiconductor manufacturing. Based in Hyderabad, obsessed with tolerances, not corporate fluff.
The gig You own the imaging chain end to end — lens, lighting and sensor through to the algorithm and the app that ships inside the machine. Classical vision first, AI/ML where it actually earns its place. Prove it on real production parts, not curated sample images.
What you’ll do Size the imaging chain — FOV, working distance, µm/pixel, DOF, motion-blur budget · pick sensors, lenses, filters & lighting geometry · set exposure, gain, strobe and triggering to a latency budget · build GenICam/GenTL pipelines sized to cycle time · write algorithms from first principles — sub-pixel edges, pattern matching, blobs & contours · own camera, distortion & hand-eye calibration into robot coordinates · deploy AI/ML where classical falls short · ship a real app with a live-view operator HMI · talk to PLCs, robots & machine I/O · commission it on the floor.
Must haves Bachelor's/Master's in CS, ECE, EE or Mechatronics · 2+ yrs in machine vision, CV, robotics or automation · hands-on optical design — FOV, WD, focal length, magnification, DOF, µm/pixel — and the lens/sensor/lighting to match · algorithms you wrote yourself, not just library calls · calibration, distortion correction & coordinate transforms · strong C++ or C# with working Python · OpenCV and/or Halcon, VisionPro, Matrox or pylon vTools · one AI/ML model actually deployed · vendor SDKs in production apps · Qt/QML, WPF/.NET or PySide · multithreading, profiling, real-time · Git, tests, code reviews.
Nice to haves Telecentric & macro optics, line scan, Scheimpflug · MTF and lens qualification · CoaXPress, 10 GigE, frame grabbers · strobe controllers & encoder-synced acquisition · Halcon, Cognex, Keyence · 2D/3D vision, profilometry, metrology · deep learning for defect & anomaly detection · DataMatrix/OCR with ISO/IEC 15415/15416 grading · CUDA/TensorRT · EtherCAT, OPC UA, PROFINET · gauge R&R, SPC · 24/7 traceability & fault recovery.
tl;dr Can you pick the lens, light the part, write the algorithm and ship the app that runs it 24/7? Come build machines that actually see. No black boxes — except ours.
