think you can sketch it?
Industrial Designer | Hyderabad, India | Full-Time | 2+ yrs exp
Who we are We build dark factories: fully autonomous, zero-defect production systems for electronics & semiconductor manufacturing. Based in Hyderabad, obsessed with tolerances, not corporate fluff.
The gig We need a designer who can move between CAD and Figma without blinking. Shape machines that are technically solid, easy to build, easy to use, and actually look good — enclosures, panels, operator stations, and the HMI screens that run them. This is industrial design + mechanical design + ergonomics + UI/UX, all in one seat, working shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, electrical, controls, software & manufacturing teams.
What you’ll do Design machine concepts, enclosures, panels & operator stations, concept to production. Turn engineering requirements into clean, manufacturable CAD designs. Apply DFM/DFA & manufacturing know-how for assembly, maintenance & operator safety. Solve ergonomics for reach, visibility & workstation layout. Design intuitive HMI/UX — workflows, screens, alarms, feedback. Wireframe & prototype in Figma/Adobe, keeping physical + digital feeling like one product. Set design standards & iterate on operator and manufacturing feedback.
Must haves Bachelor's/Master's in Industrial Design. 2+ yrs designing industrial equipment, automation, robotics or machinery. Strong 3D CAD. Solid grasp of manufacturing processes & DFM/DFA. Ergonomics, human factors & product aesthetics chops. Experience designing enclosures, panels & mechanical assemblies. Strong UI/UX sense for technical products. Proficiency in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD or equiv. Clear communicator across mechanical, electrical, controls, software & manufacturing teams.
Nice to haves Experience with semiconductor/electronics manufacturing equipment or precision machinery. UX research, wireframing & operator workflow analysis. Experience designing for touchscreens & ruggedized interfaces. Animation/micro-interaction skills for operator feedback.
tl;dr If you can sketch it, model it, and make an operator actually enjoy using it, we want you designing the factories of the future. Portfolio required.
